From our student alumni:
"Sustainable Cities pushes students to specialize their skills and streamline their approach to gathering and presenting data. Since many of us worked on projects requiring skills we didn't necessarily have going in, each member of a team was responsible for acquiring the expertise needed for their role. I was responsible for creating the maps within my team's parking survey of downtown Belmont, and this required that I teach myself how to use Adobe Illustrator and constantly edit the way our data was presented to make it clear. Completing this sizable project was definitely a proud moment and I gained the confidence to tackle new projects outside of my comfort zone."

"This class gives people a real sense of what it is like to drive change in a vital area of study for the future of our community. Working on real-life issues plaguing organizations in our community allowed the learning to be more than just an academic exercise. As someone who is focused on impact and output, I loved to have an experience that was going to have real impact on people in the near future. Other benefits included the ability to work with students from different disciplines, connection to the broader community of organizations working to improve the sustainability of the Bay Area, and combination of academic research and on the ground experiences."
